I believe "BROWNING" replaced "FABRIQUE NATIONALE" on the receiver of World Market guns in 1948 or '49.The right side of the barrel is marked “BROWNING AUTO_5 / ** SPECIAL STEEL 12 GA. SHELLS_3″_28 / BROWNING PATENTS”. The left side of the receiver is marked “Magnum / ® / BROWNING” with a bust portrait of John M. Browning, the underside has the serial number. The receiver, tangs and trigger guard have tasteful Grade I engraving.The reason being, Browning’s repeater was first built by Fabroque Nationale (FN) in Belgium. Then the manufacturing of the Auto-5 was taken over by the Japanese gunmaker Miroku, which continues to make Browning’s Citori.
